Volumes 1 and 2 cover the “breakthrough and waystage language levels” (Volume 1 = A1, Volume 2 = A2).
Structure
- Each of the volumes contains a textbook and a workbook section and an appendix with an answer key.
- The textbook offers an easily accessible approach to the German language.
- “Service stations” help repeat and reinforce what has been learned.
Content
- The topics focus on everyday life (and preparation for everyday life) in a German-speaking environment.
Concept
- The smooth progression and clear exercise typology are oriented towards the needs of students with little or no experience in learning a foreign language.
- The starting pages for the chapters have a strong visual image to promote spontaneous understanding of the subject matter.
- Suggestions for project work provide motivation on the active application of skills, e.g. in actual everyday situations.
- Special emphasis is placed on training pronunciation.
Additional material
The “intensive trainer” and the exercise CD-ROM are significant parts of the textbook. Both components mean it can be adapted to groups of students with more or less prior experience and more or less lesson time. The “intensive trainer” has additional vocabulary and grammar exercises to provide differentiation options within similar learner groups. At the same time, the CD-ROM contains an extensive archive of exercises to allow more in-depth work at three different levels of difficulty. The teacher handouts give clear, detailed teaching tips for use in the lessons.
